A visit to Wakehurst Place, West Sussex
This weekend I visited Wakehurst Place in West Sussex. This is a Botanical Gardens funded by Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew.
Please note there is an entrance fee to the gardens, see their web site for details and opening times – click here.
There is a magnificent Elizabethan Manor house set inĀ 465 Acres of grounds.
At this time of year the woods were full of Bluebells, so it’s well worth exploring all the woodland.
Wakehurst Place also hold the seed banks for Royal Botanical Gardens, and you can go inside and see the staff at work thanks to the open design and read about what, why and how the seeds are collected.
The gardens have several ornamental gardens and a more natural valley down the other side, with a lake and streams running through.
It’s roughly 3 miles round the site with scope to explore further.
Have you been to Wakehurst Place ? What did you enjoy ? Know of similar place to visit ? Leave a comment and let me know.
