Description

Stunning circular walk via Chapel Porth from St Agnes with a coastal section along South West Coastal Path. Taking in Wheal Coates mine and return via the tranquil Wheal Lawrence Valley. A few stiles and mainly easy going.

Directions

Start by heading up Polbreen Lane opposite the Spar. At the top of Polbreen Lane continue onto Whitworth Close then shortly after turn right onto the public footpath. 

At the end of the path turn right onto the track. Follow the track and footpath until you reach the road.

Cross the road carefully, and continue along the public footpath. Ignore the right turn which takes you up St Agnes Beacon.

At the next junction take the path on the right that skirts you round St Agnes Beacon.

Follow this path around St Agnes Beacon until you reach the road. Cross the road and go down the road opposite. 

After about 150 meters take the footpath to the left which takes you down to the South West Coast Path near a car park. 

Turn left along the South West Coast Path and follow until Chapel Porth. along the way, you can take time to explore Wheal Coates disused mine buildings. There are stunning views all along the South West Coast Path.

Once in Chapel Porth take the path up the valley to the right of the stream. Ignore paths off to the right, and enjoy the peaceful valley following the stream. 

At the top of the path, turn left up small track past house to another track. Turn right here and follow to the end. 

At the junction turn left along the road. When you reach a crossroads, go straight across and follow the road to Cannonball Farm. 

Turn right along the public footpath here (that you came up at the start of the walk) and retrace your steps to St Agnes.
